Making Music in Schools: Our flagship educational program brings a unique and structured series of music courses into the classrooms of a partnering school, taught by an ACF-LA instructor. We teach students to move beyond appreciating or performing music, to a place of creation where they write music all their own. As music powerfully influences each generation, our program uniquely engages and empowers the next.
Making Music is supported in part by the generosity of The Pasadena Tournament of Roses Foundation and the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts.
Partnership Concerts: Our Partnership Concerts connect us with the exciting new music scene that has developed in Southern California in recent years. ACF-LA leverages the power of collaboration with performing groups, presenting organizations, institutions, and festivals to generate rich new music concerts and events.
Lectures/Workshops: ACF-LA sponsors and organizes public events such as lectures, workshops, and seminars. Through our recent partnership with CicLAvia and the Danish Embassy, we brought in two Dutch composers to present on composing soundscapes for mobile devises. We’ve hosted events, workshops, and partnerships with composers, performers, and music leaders, including Executive Director of Classical Music fro BMI, Deirdre Chadwick; CSUF New Music Festival Founder and Director, new music leader, composer, and Professor Dr. Pamela Madsen; and Multiple GRAMMY® nominated pianist Nadia Shpachenko.
Networking Events: Fulfilling our mission to connect composers in community, ACF-LA hosts periodic events that create a space for composers, musicians, educators, music industry professionals, etc. to develop collaborations, projects, and connections.
Fiscal Receiverships: This program allows members to use our 501(c)(3) status to receive and process funding, making us a fiscal service partner though a pass-through account.
ACF-LA is supported, in part, by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Arts Commission.
